AGE OF REASON

GRANDCHILDREN?

School holidays are not far away.

Are you looking after your grandchildren?

Do you ever wonder what you can prepare for their meals?

We may have the answer.

Some foods are not essential to provide the nutrients the body needs, and contain too much salt, fat and sugar.

It is sensible to choose these foods in small amounts, as they can still be enjoyable to eat.

Healthy Family Recipes is a small booklet of recipes that children like.

It contains some easy tasty recipes that you or your grandchildren can prepare.

These recipes can be modified to suit young family members where necessary.

The booklet is divided into 5 sections:

* Kids Cuisine

* Snacks

* Breakfast

* Mains and

* Sweet treats

As healthy eating in early life is an important contributor to child's growth and development and their health and well being later in life, it is important to encourage healthy eating habits from an early age.

Preparing this food does not have to be challenging or time consuming

It is important t include all food groups in the diet:

* Bread, cereals, rice, pasta and noodles

* Vegetables and legumes

* Fruit

* Milk, yogurt and cheese

* Meat, fish, poultry, eggs, nuts and legumes

If you would like a copy of the FREE booklet, which is produced by DairyCorp, phone the seniors information Service on 13 12 44 between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.
